Robert Lewandowski has denied he has signed a new deal with Bayern Munich but insists he is close to agreeing new terms.
The Poland international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent years after developing into one of the best No.9s in football since moving to Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
Lewandowski still has three years remaining on his existing deal with the Bundesliga champions but Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking to secure his long-term future and put an end to reports linking him with a move away.
“I don’t think it will take long, but we just need to be patient,” AS quote Lewandowski as saying after Bayern’s 3-1 win over Augsburg at the weekend.
“I haven’t signed anything yet. When we’ve found some solutions we’ll let you all know.”
While Bayern haven’t completely clicked under Ancelotti, Lewandowski has continued his phenomenal goalscoring exploits this season. In fact, only Anthony Modeste (11) has scored more goals in the Bundesliga this season than Lewandowski (7).
Furthermore, only four players have scored more goals in Europe’s big five leagues since the start of last season than the Bayern ace (37).
