Guardiola to launch bid for Dortmund ace as Aguero replacement

Manchester City are to launch another bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Sergio Augero’s replacement at the Etihad Stadium, reports the Sunday Express.

Augero, who was benched for recent meetings with Everton and Barcelona, has been linked with a move away from City having been dropped for both fixtures.

Manager Pep Guardiola has stoked the flames over a potential exit, suggesting that the Argentina international can decide when he leaves the club.

Relations between the player and manager are said to be tense, which has only heightened speculation of a potential move away from the two-time Premier League champions.

PSG and AC Milan have been linked with a move for Aguero and his sale could finance a move for Borussia Dortmund star Aubameyang. Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation, though their impending transfer ban would complicate any deal.

The Gabon international was heavily linked with a Premier League switch over the summer, though any deal failed to materialise.

City, though, could return with a £58m offer for Aubameyang at the end of the season, with his father and advisor holding talks with the Premier League side over a transfer last summer.

Aubaymeyang, who has scored seven league goals this season, is contracted to Dortmund until 2020, with City having no problems of matching the club’s valuation of the player, particularly should they command a top fee for Aguero.
