Manchester United eye £30m-rated right-back

Manchester United are considering a £30m bid for Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo, claims The Daily Mirror.

Cancelo spent the season on loan at Inter but Luciano Spalletti has already confirmed the club cannot afford to make the switch permanent.

The Portugal international will instead return to Valencia but it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.

Valencia have secured a return to the Champions League for next season, so it cannot be ruled out that Cancelo won't stay at the club.

However, Jose Mourinho is now interested in bringing Cancelo to Old Trafford as he seeks a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia.

The 32-year-old has done well to adapt as a right-back in the last few years but United want to sign a recognised player for that position going forward.

A serious knee injury disrupted Cancelo’s start to the season but he still finished the season with 22 appearances and a spot in the WhoScored Team of the Season in Serie A (7.12).

With United's interest in mind, it's worth adding Cancelo to your Football INDEX portfolios. His share price is currently £1.55 but will only increase as speculation intensifies.
