Manchester City winger favours Bayern move over Liverpool switch
Leroy Sane prefers a move to Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich rather than a switch to Liverpool if he, as expected, leaves Manchester City this summer, reports Sport Bild.
Bayern lead the race to sign Sane and came close to securing his services last summer, but a knee injury sustained in the Community Shield penalty shootout win over Liverpool ended any hope of a return to Germany.
However, Bayern have held a long standing interest in Sane and are confident they can strike a deal with City for the 24-year-old when the transfer window opens.
Liverpool are rumoured to have made tentative enquiries over Sane's availability, though City would be reluctant to help strengthen a title rival.
That said, Sane would rather move to Bayern than complete a transfer to Liverpool even if the Reds had a bid accepted for the Germany international.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to add another attacker to the ranks and Sane had emerged as a possible target, but the wideman has his heart set on a switch to the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern re-established their four-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund last weekend as they earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over Union Berlin after Dortmund had narrowed the gap to one point after their 4-0 triumph over Schalke.
