Arsenal forward suffers injury setback

Arsene Wenger has revealed he will be without Alexis Sanchez for a further ‘three weeks’ after the Arsenal forward suffered a setback in his return from a hamstring injury.

Sanchez, 27, hasn’t featured for the Gunners since the end of November after injuring his hamstring in their 1-1 draw with Norwich.

The Chile international was expected back in training prior to their clash with Manchester City on Monday evening but wasn’t included in the squad and Wenger has confirmed he could miss their next four matches through injury.

“Sanchez will be back around Jan. 10,” the Arsenal boss is quoted as saying by ESPN. “We can’t count on him around the Christmas period. He’s had a very slight setback.

“It was planned for him to be on the bench for City. He’s so keen, but he got a little pain in training two days ago and we haven’t taken a gamble.”
