Manchester United weigh up move for Monaco defender

Manchester United have earmarked Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe as a potential transfer target this summer, claims TF1, via Get French Football.

Antonio Valencia will turn 33 at the start of next season and Jose Mourinho is keen to sign a long-term replacement for the United ace at the end of the season.

Sidibe was heavily linked with a move away from Monaco last summer but the Ligue 1 side ended up selling Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City for £50m and keeping Sidibe.

The 25-year-old has endured a mixed campaign for the defending Ligue 1 champions but that hasn’t stopped United from expressing some interest in the France international.

Sidibe has played a direct hand in six goals from right-back for Leonardo Jardim’s side this season, also winning the WhoScored Man of the Match award on four occasions.

In fact, only Nantes’ Leo Dubois (5) has won more WhoScored Man of the Match awards than Sidibe of all defenders in Ligue 1 this season.
