Arsenal forward fires warning at Arsene Wenger

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has warned manager Arsene Wenger he will not settle for another season out of the team fuelling speculation he could leave the club this summer.

Giroud dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal last season as Wenger preferred Alexis Sanchez as the lone frontman for the majority of the season and now the Gunners are reportedly trying to lure Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe to north London.

Mbappe’s arrival would only limit Giroud’s first-team opportunities further and the 30-year-old insists he has no interest in spending another season watching his teammates from the bench.

“I will speak to the coach about whether or not he is counting on me,” Get French Football quote Giroud as saying at a French national team press conference.

“It is true that I have had limited playing time but at one moment or another, it is true that there are things going against me. I am not going to accept another year with such a weak amount of playing time.

“I will have to think hard with those close to me and my advisors. It will be a deeply considered decision in order to have more playing time.”

Giroud only signed a new Arsenal contract at the start of the year but the France international has been linked with a move to Marseille ever since, although his agent has previously denied those reports.

Of players that scored at least 10 goals in the Premier League last season only Harry Kane (1 every 87.3 minutes of action) required fewer minutes per goal than Giroud (1 every 99.5 minutes of action).
