Manchester United have confirmed Axel Tuanzebe has joined Championship side Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.
Villa already have Sam Johnstone on loan from Jose Mourinho’s side but Steve Bruce has completed a second raid to bolster their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
Tuanzebe is highly regarded at Old Trafford but has struggled for playing time this season and has now been given the chance to find regular first-team football elsewhere.
“Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has joined Championship side Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the 2017/18 campaign,” a statement read on United’s official website.
The 20-year-old is predominately a centre-back but can also play at right-back and in central midfield.
Tuanzebe will provide competition for places at Villa but will likely be afforded greater playing time in front of Bruce’s defence when called upon by the Villa boss.
Villa are currently fourth in the Championship and three points off second, which would be good enough for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
