Chelsea have lodged a club record £60m bid for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez after giving up on Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to The Daily Express.
Rodriguez, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away from Madrid since the start of last season after dropping down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.
Antonio Conte is keen to add to his Chelsea squad before the transfer window shuts in less than two weeks time and is looking to take advantage of Rodriguez’s position.
Of players that have made at least five appearances in the last three La Liga campaigns no player has created a chance more frequently than Rodriguez (27.8 mins).
