Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is eyeing an audacious £60m move for versatile Bayern Munich defender David Alaba this month, claims The Daily Mirror.
Alaba has entered the final 18 months of his existing Bayern deal and has dropped down the pecking order at the club in the last year.
The Austria international has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years and now Chelsea are keen on a move for the left-back.
Lampard is desperate to sign a new left-back due to reservations over both Marcos Alonso and Emerson.
Alonso wanted to leave Chelsea in the summer, while Inter are reportedly chasing Emerson's signature this month.
Chelsea will listen to offers for both players but will not allow them to leave until they have signed a replacement.
Lampard has even used right-back Cesar Azpilicueta in their position over the last month, which says everything about what he thinks of the pair going forward.
Alaba has been limited to just 11 starts in the Bundesliga this season and has even been usurped in the pecking order by teenager Alphonso Davies, who is a winger by trade.
