Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye has turned down the chance to return to France in hope of being signed by a Premier League side this summer, reports French outlet La Provence, via Get French Football.
Gueye, 26, only joined Villa from Lille last summer but already has his eye on a move following Villa’s relegation to the Championship last summer.
Marseille had tried to engage in talks with the Championship outfit over the weekend but were snubbed by the Senegal international.
Only N’Golo Kante (331) completed more tackles and interceptions across Europe’s top five leagues than Gueye (253) last season.
