Monaco sign Kevin Volland from Bayer Leverkusen

Monaco have confirmed the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen forward Kevin Volland in a deal worth up to €15m (£13.4m).

Volland has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Monaco after spending the last four years with Bundesliga outfit Leverkusen.

The 28-year-old had entered the final 12 months of his Leverkusen contract and the German side have opted to cash-in rather than watch him leave for free next summer.

Volland is the second big name departure from Leverkusen this summer following Kai Havertz's move to Chelsea.

Monaco have moved to sign Volland after Islam Slimani's loan spell with the club ended at the end of last season.

The Ligue 1 outfit are already two games into the 2020/21 campaign and Volland's arrival will ease the burden on Wissam Ben Yedder in attack.

Volland, who can operate centrally or on the left wing, played a direct hand in 17 goals (10 goals, seven assists) in 27 league appearances last season.

Moreover, the Germany international has reached double figures for league goals in each of his last three campaigns.
