West Brom club-record signing comes to blows with Pulis

West Brom club-record signing Nacer Chadli has been left out of the squad that has travelled to Austria after coming to blows with head coach Tony Pulis, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Chadli, who joined from Tottenham for £13m last summer, will instead undertake his own fitness programme at the club’s training ground after heated talks with Pulis on Tuesday.

Talks between the pair reportedly ended amicably and it has not forced the former Belgium international close to leaving the club just 12 months after becoming the most expensive player in West Brom’s history.

The Baggies are preparing for a gruelling fitness regime in Austria, which Chadli did not want to take part in, but Pulis is hoping the 27-year-old will fly out to join up with the team in Hong Kong next week.

Chadli endured a disappointing season for West Brom last term, which was disrupted by a knee injury that kept him out of action for a month in November.

Despite failing to really impress for West Brom during his maiden campaign at the club, only Matt Phillips (12) played a direct hand in more league goals for Pulis’ side than Chadli (10).
