Bayern Munich confident of signing Manchester City star

Bayern Munich are growing in confidence in their pursuit of Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, claims The Daily Mirror.

Sane was named the PFA Young Player of the Season in 2017/18 but fell out of favour at City this season.

The Germany international dropped below Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling in the pecking order for places and was rarely trusted in City’s biggest games.

Pep Guardiola will reluctantly allow Sane to leave this summer if City fail to secure his long-term future in the next few months.

The City head coach has already revealed the club have been talking to Sane’s camp about a new deal for the last year without any success.

With only two years left on his current City deal, the Premier League champions have no interest letting Sane get into the position where he could run down his contract and leave for nothing.

Sane’s current situation has given Bundesliga champions Bayern a great deal of optimistic about signing the 23-year-old this summer.

With both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery set to leave Bayern after next week’s German Cup final, Niko Kovac's side are on the market for at least two wingers this summer.

The German outfit have previously been linked with a move for Chelsea teen Callum Hudson-Odoi but the England international ruptured his Achilles tendon last month.

Despite only starting 21 league games this season, Sane is the only player to register double figures for goals and assists in each of the last two Premier League campaigns.
