Chelsea target formally told he can leave for nothing

Arsenal have formally told Aaron Ramsey they will not offer him a new contract and he can leave for nothing at the end of the season, claims Sky Sports.

Ramsey has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal contract and it emerged earlier this season that the Gunners had withdrawn their latest contract offer.

The Wales international revealed during the most recent international break that he had not been informed by Arsenal that he was no longer wanted amid intense media speculation.

However, it has now been revealed over the last 24 hours that Arsenal have told Ramsey he is not part of their plans beyond the end of the current campaign.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with the 27-year-old and will likely step up their pursuits over the coming months.

Ramsey’s preference is thought to be to leave at the end of the season when he will be able to command a significant signing-on fee.

However, interested suitors may look to wrap up Ramsey’s signature in a cut-price deal in January in order to fend off the competition.

Since the start of last season, only Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have scored or assisted more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Ramsey (19).
