Fabian Ruiz is ready to set a bumper new deal with Napoli amid interest from Real Madrid, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.
Ruiz’s current deal is not due to expire until the summer of 2023 but Napoli are keen to end any speculation about a summer exit.
Madrid have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old as an alternative target to Premier League duo Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen.
The Spanish side are struggling to nail down either of their midfield targets and it has been suggested they will switch their attention to Ruiz.
The Napoli midfielder, who is currently with Spain’s U21s at the European Championships, is understood to have agreed a new deal that will run until 2024.
Napoli have also managed to remove a release clause under the proposed new terms, which boosts their chances of keeping Ruiz for the foreseeable future.
Ruiz played a direct hand in nine goals in 27 league appearances for Napoli last season. Furthermore, Ruiz made more key passes than any other player aged 23 and under in Serie A last term (62).
