Chelsea make enquiry for Real Madrid sensation

Chelsea have asked Real Madrid about the availability of right-back Achraf Hakimi, reports The Sunday Mirror.

The Moroccan is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he has excelled as one of only four players to register 10 or more assists from open play in Europe's top five leagues this season.

However, the loan deal doesn't include an option to buy and it has seen a number of top teams show an interest in Hakimi.

Chelsea are one of those to have enquired about the 21-year-old, but have been told by Real Madrid that they won't discuss the right-back until the season comes to an end.

Zinedine Zidane will run the rule over Hakimi when he returns to Spain, with Los Blancos planning for the youngster to be integrated into the first team.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has ample options at right-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James both able to fill in at the back.

Hakimi's versatility is an added bonus for Lampard, however, with his two left-backs - Marcos Alonso and Emerson - underwhelming, and it's well known that Chelsea are looking to improve this area of the pitch in the summer.

Hakimi has a deal with Real Madrid until 2022 and is believed to have a modest £50m release clause in his contract.
