Former City striker close to shock Boro deal

Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo is on the verge of joining newly promoted Premier League side Middlesbrough, according to Marca, via Football Espana.

Negredo, 30, only joined Valencia from Manchester City on a permanent basis last summer in a deal that cost the La Liga giants €30m (£25.7m).

However, the former Spain international has failed to rediscover his best form and is now close to sealing a season-long loan move to Middlesbrough.

Aitor Karanka’s side have reportedly reached an agreement with Valencia that will see Los Che save €7m (£6m) on Negredo’s salary next season.
