Arnautovic coy on Manchester United links

Marko Arnautovic has conceded it’s ‘nice’ to be linked with a summer move to Manchester United but has refused to comment on the likelihood of the transfer.

The 29-year-old has emerged as a shock target for United this summer as Jose Mourinho considers his forward options ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Mourinho fuelled more speculation after attending Austria’s 1-0 win over Russia last week, in which Arnautovic assisted the only goal of the game.

West Ham shelled out a club-record fee to sign Arnautovic 12 months ago and have no intentions of selling their star man this summer, while the Austrian has refused to be drawn into any transfer speculation.

“It’s nice to hear,” talkSPORT quote Arnautovic as saying. I’ve not heard anything from my brother, my agent. You can keep asking me this question, you’ll never hear the answer from me.”

Arnautovic endured a difficult start to life at West Ham but quickly found his feet after David Moyes was appointed at the start of November.

United are reportedly weighing up a shock £50m move for the former Stoke midfielder but it’s unclear whether they will firm up their interest.

Arnautovic finished his first season at West Ham with 11 league goals. In fact, no West Ham player has netted more in a single Premier League campaign since Marlon Harewood scored 14 times in the 2005/06 campaign.
