Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti faces a race to be fit for the first Clasico of the season after being ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Umtiti has made a seamless transition into the Barcelona first team since joining from Lyon over the summer and is already first choice alongside Gerard Pique when everyone is fit and available.
However, the 22-year-old has given Luis Enrique’s side an early scare after being forced to withdraw from the France squad for upcoming matches against Sweden and Ivory Coast.
Umtiti, who picked up a tear in his left hamstring in training with the national team, will now miss fixtures against Malaga, Real Sociedad, Hercules and Celtic and is a huge doubt for their big clash against Real Madrid in just 23 days time.
Barcelona have won all six league matches Umtiti has started this season compared to just two of five matches without the Frenchman in the starting XI.
