Tottenham to pip Liverpool and Manchester United to European champion
Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, reports Spanish publication AS.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a fine U21 Euros for champions Spain, ending the competition with a WhoScored rating of 8.01, that among the best of all players.
That said, Real Madrid are prepared to cash in on Ceballos this summer as they aim to fund moves for either Paul Pogba or Christian Eriksen.
Los Blancos may use Ceballos as a sweetener to land Eriksen, though head coach Zinedine Zidane has his heart set on a move for Pogba.
And while Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Spaniard, Spurs are thought to be in pole position to secure the youngster’s services.
Ceballos thrived in a number 10 role for Spain at the U21 tournament as he made more successful final third passes (144) than any other player at the U21 Euros.

After going 18 months without a new signing, Tottenham recently confirmed the arrivals of Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele from Leeds and Lyon, respectively.
Spurs have also been linked with a big money move for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, with negotiations over a possible switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium supposedly ongoing.
