Manchester United are interested in making an audacious move to sign Juventus forward Douglas Costa, reports The Daily Mirror.
Costa has impressed for Juventus since joining the Serie A giants on a season-long loan deal from Bayern Munich at the start of the season.
Juventus paid an initial €6m (£5.3m) loan fee for the Brazil international and will have to stump up a further €40m (£35m) to make the switch permanent.
However, Mourinho is interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Old Trafford and has tasked CEO Ed Woodward with finding out whether a deal can be made.
The fact that United are even considering strengthening their offensive options does not reflect well on the start Alexis Sanchez has made to life at the club.
Mourinho’s side signed Sanchez from Arsenal in January and have committed a staggering £500,000-a-week to the Chile international over the next four-and-a-half years.
Only Alejandro Gomez (75) has completed more dribbles than Costa (64) in Serie A this season.
