Koulibaly ready to extend Napoli stay

Kalidou Koulibaly is on the verge of signing a new deal with Napoli just weeks after reports linking him with a move to Everton and Chelsea, reports Sport Mediaset via the Daily Express.

The Senegal international was widely expected to leave the Serie A giants this summer, with the Premier League pair keen on the ever-improving centre-back.

Napoli were under no pressure to sell Koulibaly following the sale of Gonzalo Higuain and now speculation linking the defender with a January exit is set to be put to bed, with he set to sign a new deal that will keep him in Naples until 2021.

The new contract will include a staggering £76m release clause, which is expected to deter potential suitors from making a move.

Having failed to convince Napoli to sell Koulibaly, Chelsea instead signed David Luiz, while Everton confirmed the capture of Ashley Williams from PSG and Swansea, respectively.
