Real Madrid centre-back Jesus Vallejo is undergoing a medical with Wolves ahead of a season-long loan deal, claims The Independent.
Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has sanctioned Vallejo’s departure this summer to secure regular playing time next season.
Vallejo, who has struggled with injuries in the last 12 months, has failed to break into the Madrid first-team.
The 22-year-old has dropped further down the pecking order at Madrid this summer following Eder Militao’s arrival from Porto.
It has now emerged the Spain Under-21 international will spend next season with Wolves, who kickstarted their Europa League campaign on Thursday.
Despite qualifying for Europe, Wolves have been curiously quiet in the transfer window this summer, with Vallejo primed to become their first new arrival in the next 24 hours.
Vallejo got more minutes under his belt for Spain’s Under-21s at this summer’s European Championships (360) than he did for Madrid in LaLiga last season (311).
