Everton set to stump up £40m for Arsenal man in January
Everton are ready to spend big to solve their striking problems, with Olivier Giroud still their top priority according to The Sunday Mirror.
The Toffees have come unstuck in the final third at times this season and failed to sufficiently replace Romelu Lukaku, who left for Manchester United.
The Merseysiders signed Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney but elsewhere remain lightweight up front, with Oumar Niasse reportedly brought in from the cold having been told in no uncertain terms last summer that he had no future at the club.
While Ronald Koeman has been forced to backtrack on that stance the Dutchman is still understandably keen to bolster his attacking ranks.
Everton held a strong interest in Giroud throughout the summer and are reportedly willing to convince Arsenal to sell the striker in January with a £40m offer.
The Frenchman is known to be frustrated at a lack of playing time and open to a move ahead of a World Cup year. The 30-year-old has started more games for France this season than Arsenal (0) and if he wants to keep his place leading the line for les Bleus a transfer in the winter window may be a necessity.
