Injury sidelines Amavi for the season

 

Aston Villa have confirmed that left-back Jordan Amavi will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

 

The Frenchman suffered the problem while on international with the under-21 side on Thursday night and scans have confirmed the the youngster has ruptured an anterior cruciate ligmament.

 

"Aston Villa can confirm defender Jordan Amavi has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015/16 Premier League season with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee," a statement read on the club's official website.

 

"The 21-year-old suffered the injury on Thursday night playing for France U21s against Northern Ireland in a European qualifying fixture.

 

"Everyone at the club wishes Jordan a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on a football pitch as soon as possible."

 

Injury sidelines Amavi for the season

 

Prior to his injury, Amavi had impressed for Villa in the Premier League this season, gaining a better WhoScored rating (7.48) than any other player at the club.
