De Gea absent from United squad to face Brugge

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has left David de Gea out of his 18-man squad to travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier.

De Gea, 24, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and has been forced to watch his teammates on from the stands in United’s first four matches of the season.

The Spain international is into the final year of his deal at Old Trafford and looks set to join Madrid on a free next summer, if the La Liga giants fail to land their No.1 target this summer.

Summer signing Sergio Romero has instead kept in United's goal for their first three league games and the Argentina international is yet to concede in De Gea's absence.
