Hummels secures Borussia Dortmund return from Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they have agreed a deal in principle to re-sign Mats Hummels from Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga outfit have now made their fourth high profile signing of the summer after agreeing a £38m deal for Hummels.

Hummels joins Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz in signing for Dortmund and takes their summer expenditure to beyond the £100m mark.

Bayern only re-signed Hummels from Dortmund in 2016 but have remarkably now made a profit on the 30-year-old.

Niko Kovac’s side are in the process of overhauling their current options and bring down the average age of their squad.

Bayern have already confirmed Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben will leave the club this summer and now Hummels.

Hummels only started 20 league matches last season, his lowest return in a league campaign in the last decade.

Only Thiago Alcantara (83.6) averaged more passes per Bundesliga game than Hummels (82.6) last season.
