Jean Michael Seri has hinted he would be open to joining Paris Saint-Germain but will only leave Nice for the right club.
The Ivory Coast international was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and PSG over the summer but neither side managed to firm up their interest with a concrete offer.
Seri, 26, has made an underwhelming start to the current campaign but the Nice No.6 has refused to rule out a move to PSG in the future.
“I’m not a player you take by default,” he told Le Parisien. “I’m not interested in leaving for leaving’s sake.
“If I make that step, it will have to be for a team where I feel wanted and one that plays football. Paris have that philosophy to which I’m very attached. So why not?”
PSG have made signing a new sitting midfielder a priority over the next two transfer windows, as they have no other like-for-like option when 35-year-old Thiago Motta is unavailable.
While Seri is much more than just a defensive midfielder, he can play in that role. Since the start of last season, only Thiago Motta (3,227) and Marco Verratti (3,112) have completed more passes than Seri (3,102) in Ligue 1.
