Chelsea made to wait before seeing new signing in action
Chelsea manager Gus Hiddink has revealed January signing Alexandre Pato remains a long way off being fit for first-team action.
Pato, 26, has joined the Premier League champions on loan from Corinthians until the end of the season but hasn’t featured competitively since the end of the Brasileirao in November.
The Brazil international has been in training since making the move late last month but still has a long way to go before being match ready for Chelsea, Hiddink has revealed.
“Pato is in his pre season and we have made a training plan which he is doing now every day, training at least once and sometimes twice so he is getting his fitness, but he is not at full fitness yet,” Hiddink is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
Pato arrives at Chelsea off the back of his best individual campaign (10) since the 2010/11 with Milan (14).
