Neymar joining Real Madrid would annoy Barcelona legend
Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has revealed he would be annoyed if former team-mate Neymar joined Real Madrid in the future.
Neymar made the shock decision to leave Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world record deal in the summer but has already been touted with a controversial move the Bernebau.
Madrid president Florentino Perez claimed earlier this month that Neymar would have a better chance of winning the Ballon d’Or if he joined Madrid, but Iniesta hopes that’s a move that never materialises.
“Anything can happen in football,” ESPN quote Iniesta as saying when asked whether he could imagine Neymar joining Madrid as Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor.
“We’ve seen situations which seemed impossible and have then happened before. I would be indifferent. Maybe it would annoy me a little bit because he’s a game-changer and he would strengthen a rival. But I’m not worried about it.”
The Brazilian will line up against Madrid in the next round of the Champions League after PSG were drawn against the reigning champions and rumours will only intensify around that period.
Neymar has made a stunning start to his PSG career but there have been rumblings of unrest ever since he completed his £193m switch.
Nevertheless, that has not impacted his performances on the pitch. The 25-year-old is the highest WhoScored rated player in Europe’s top five leagues (8.79) after scoring nine goals and registering six assists in 12 league appearances.
