Burnley midfielder Steven Defour has cast doubt over his immediate future at Turf Moor after revealing he is interested in the chance to cash in on the riches of China.
Defour joined Burnley in a £7m deal at the start of the season but has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular for the Clarets thus far.
Chinese Super League sides have been offering big money deals to a number of players across the world this month and Defour, who only joined Burnley in the summer, has conceded he could be swayed by a ‘big money’ offer from the Far East over the next month.
“It’s great to be here and to score such a great goal was nice. But if a big offer was made from a Chinese club, both me and Burnley would have to think about it,” The Daily Mirror quote Defour as saying following Burnley’s FA Cup win at the weekend.
The 28-year-old has been hugely impressive for Burnley in their home matches and his form at Turf Moor has been integral to what has been a stunning home campaign for Sean Dyche’s side - he is Burnley’s highest rated home player (7.38).
However, he has not been anywhere near as effective on the road for Burnley this season, which Dyche has even spoken about this season. A WhoScored rating of 6.17 away from home in the league is actually the second worst for Burnley of those to have started a league match this term.
