Tottenham ready £50m bid for midfield target

Tottenham are poised to bid £50m for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, claims The Sun.

Mauricio Pochettino has been promised money will be available this summer having not signed any players since January 2018.

Tottenham have already had a club record bid for Real Betis ace Giovani Lo Celso knocked back and are also heavily linked with moves for Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon and Sporting ace Bruno Fernandes.

Pochettino was not able to consistently pick his best midfield last season and is now planning major upgrades on his current options.

Ndombele has been courted by a number of Europe’s biggest clubs in the last 12 months and Tottenham hope to steal a march in the race for the France international.

The 22-year-old reportedly has an offer of a new deal on the table from Lyon but Tottenham are hoping to snare him away in a £50m transfer.

Ndombele played a direct hand in eight league goals from central midfield last season but it is his ability to drive from midfield with the ball that has caught the eye of potential suitors.

In fact, of players that have attempted at least 100 dribbles in Ligue 1 since August 2017, Ndombele has the best success rate (75.1%).
