Everton still want Shakhtar manager

Everton are still interested in Paulo Fonseca and could move for the Shakhtar Donetsk manager at the end of the season, reports The Mail on Sunday.

The Toffees were linked with a move for Fonseca after sacking Ronald Koeman at the end of October but the 44-year-old was not interested in leaving Shakhtar midway through the season.

Everton ended up appointing Sam Allardyce but could sack the former England manager if performances and results do not improve dramatically by the end of the season.

Allardyce has helped steer Everton clear of the bottom three but they have underwhelmed under the 63-year-old during his 15 matches in charge, winning just six times.

Everton majority shareholder Farad Moshiri already has one eye on the summer and will continue to monitor Fonseca’s progress in Ukraine.

The 44-year-old is one of only two managers to get the better of Manchester City this season, finishing second behind Pep Guardiola’s side in a competitive Champions League group that included Napoli and Feyenoord.
