Barcelona’s new signing hasn’t even been at the club for more than a week, and may not be at the club for much longer if the presidential candidacy falls into the wrong hands later this month, but Arda Turan has already set his sets on winning the Champions League with the Catalonian outfit.
Despite not being able to play a competitive match until the club’s transfer ban ends in January, Arda stated that he could not pass up the chance to play for “the best team in the world”.
“It’ll be tough to spend six months on the sidelines, but the important thing is that I’ll be playing for Barca."
The former Atletico player narrowly missed out on winning the Champions League in 2013 and has set his sights on it next season as Barcelona bid to become the first team to retain the Uefa’s remodeled elite competition. “I hope I can win it [Champions League]. I need it!”
Turan’s position in Luis Enrique’s side is yet to be determined but he will certaintly be a valuable addition when called upon. Last season Atletico won 64.3% of the matches that he was involved in, compared to just 50% when he was absent.
