Pep Guardiola poised to extend Manchester City deal

Manchester City expect Pep Guardiola to sign a 12-month contract extension in the summer, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Guardiola’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season but City are desperate to secure his future beyond that.

The 47-year-old is unlikely to stick around to create a dynasty at City but is poised to extend his stay until at least 2020.

City secured the Premier League title after Manchester United slipped to a shock 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom on Saturday.

Guardiola’s side could end the season in record-breaking fashion for a number of reasons.

City need 13 points from a remaining 15 available to become the first Premier League team to break the 100-point barrier in a single season.

Since taking over as City manager in June 2016, Guardiola has won 69.4% of his matches in all competitions.
