Liverpool cast eye to Inter goalkeeper

Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has emerged as a surprise summer target for Liverpool, according to Corriere dello Sport, via talkSPORT.

Jurgen Klopp will again address the club’s goalkeeping situation at the end of the season following Loris Karius’ struggles this season.

Liverpool signed the German shot-stopper from Mainz in the summer with a view to replacing Mignolet as the club’s new No.1 goalkeeper but the 23-year-old has since lost his place in the team to his predecessor following a tough time adapting to the Premier League.

Despite performing well since being recalled to the starting XI, Mignolet is still not thought of as Klopp’s long-term option and the club are weighing up a summer move for Inter veteran Handanovic as a result.

However, the Inter ace only signed a new deal with the club 12 months ago and is highly thought of at the club having spent the last five years there since a switch from Udinese in 2012.

It would take a big offer from Liverpool to force Inter into parting ways with the 32-year-old Slovenia international, which may force Liverpool to assess other options given his age.

In the last four Serie A campaigns Handanovic has saved at least two more penalties than any other player (8).
