Thomas Tuchel is not interested in succeeding Claude Puel as Southampton head coach, reports the Daily Mail.
The German manager was instilled as an early favourite to take over from Puel after the Frenchman was given his marching orders on Wednesday night after a solitary season at St. Mary’s.
Tuchel is out of a job at present after he and Borussia Dortmund parted ways, but his stock remains high having worked wonders during his time with the Bundesliga outfit.
Indeed, he oversaw a DFB-Pokal win in his final game in charge of the club and there is no shortage of potential suitors for the 43-year-old.
However, while Tuchel plots his next managerial move, it’s unlikely to be in Southampton with the former Maniz 05 boss waiting for the right opportunity to arise before a return to management.
Frank de Boer and Julian Nagalsmann have also been linked with the vacant Saints managerial position, though the latter recently penned a new deal to extend his stay with Hoffenheim.
Saints finished the season in 8th and while Puel guided the club to the EFL Cup final, it wasn’t enough to save him from the sack.
