Liverpool missed out on the chance to sign Dele Alli while he was at MK Dons, it has been revealed by the Liverpool Echo.
The Merseyside outfit reportedly scouted the teenager extensively before he eventually agreed to join Spurs at the start of the year.
Alli, 19, has made a seamless transition from League One to the Premier League in a matter of months and capped off his full international debut with a thunderous strike against France at Wembley on Tuesday night.
The Spurs midfielder ranks third for most interceptions of English players in the Premier League this season (28) and has also won more possession in the midfield third of any teammate this season (36).
