Champions League draw: Liverpool get favourable semi-final draw

Roma stand between Liverpool and their first Champions League final since 2007.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were given the more favourable draw during UEFA’s ceremony on Friday, avoiding Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Liverpool will be favoured against Roma despite the fact the Serie A giants completed a stunning comeback to eliminate Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

The Merseyside outfit are the only side in the competition yet to taste defeat and will more than fancy their chances of overcoming Roma.

Mohamed Salah will return to Roma for the first time since leaving the Serie A side to join Liverpool over the summer.

The Egypt international has been one of the best players in Europe this season and will be the man to stop if Roma are to have any chance of progressing to the final.

In fact, only Lionel Messi and Ciro Immobile have scored as many goals as Salah in all competitions this season (39).

Looking to join one of these two sides will be Madrid or Bayern, who have been drawn together in a mouth-watering tie between two of the most decorative clubs on the continent.

These two clubs share 17 European cups between them and will face off in the competition for the second time in the last three campaigns.

Real Madrid overcame Bayern on penalties in the 2016/17 quarter-finals on route to lifting the trophy that season.

In fact, the La Liga giants have progressed from five of their six meetings with Bayern in the last 16 Champions League seasons.
