Manchester United will move for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro next month and hope to use Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a makeweight to get a deal over the line, reports The Sun.
Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new left-back in January and has switched his attention from Tottenham’s Danny Rose to Brazilian defender Sandro.
The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer and Juventus even turned down an offer in the region of £60m from the defending Premier League champions.
Juventus have already said they will not stand in Sandro’s way should he want to leave but that wasn’t the case before the start of the season.
However, Chelsea and United have been put on red alert ahead of next month’s transfer window after Sandro reportedly told the Serie A giants he is unhappy at the club.
Mourinho’s side are keen to beat Chelsea to his signature and are even willing to send Mkhitaryan the other way, but Juventus reportedly want Daley Blind included in the transfer.
Blind’s current United deal is due to expire at the end of the season and the Netherlands international seemingly has no future at the club having only featured twice since the start of November.
The 27-year-old would provide cover at centre-back, left-back and in midfield for the Old Lady and is emerging as an attractive option for Max Allegri’s side.
Sandro has struggled to rediscover last season’s startling form this time around but is still considered one of the best full-backs in Europe. In fact, no Juventus player has a higher WhoScored rating in the league than Sandro (7.56) since the start of last season.
