Tottenham sweating on fitness of summer capture

Tottenham are sweating on the fitness of deadline day arrival Giovani Lo Celso, reports the Standard.

The Argentine joined Spurs on the final day of the transfer window on an initial season-long loan with an option to buy next summer.

Head coach Mauricio Pochetino has been integrating Lo Celso slowly, with the 23-year-old registering just 44 minutes of Premier League action following his arrival.

However, the north London side are concerned that the youngster suffered a serious groin injury while on international duty.

Lo Celso sustained the problem in Argentina’s 0-0 draw with Chile last week and returned to London early as a result.

The player himself insisted that there is nothing to worry about, but the club fear he could be sidelined for several weeks with the issue, starting with the welcome of Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It would be a huge blow for Spurs, who are presently without fellow summer captures Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele.
