Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains keen on signing Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, according to the Telegraph.
The Germany international is out of contract in the summer and while the Gunners are keen to keep their creator in chief, Arsenal are resigned to losing Ozil, either in January or at the end of the season.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for the 29-year-old in recent weeks, with a January switch to Camp Nou in the offing.
However, Mourinho, who worked with Ozil during their time together at Real Madrid, is looking to solve his problematic number 10 issue and has identified the German as the ideal player to operate behind the forward.
United would rather wait until the end of the season than part ways with upwards of £20m to sign Ozil, who has made the third most key passes (39) in the Premier League this season, though Arsenal would be looking to recoup some of the money spent to secure his services in 2013.
Ozil, though, is free to negotiate a contract with any team from January 1st onwards and Barcelona remain the favourites to secure his services.
Despite links with a move to Old Trafford, Ozil is still expected to line up for Arsenal when they host United later today.
