Napoli have stepped up their interest in Villarreal wideman Denis Suarez with a view to signing him in the summer, according to Tuttosport, via Football Italia.
Suarez scored the winning goal in Villarreal’s 1-0 victory over Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday and his performance has seemingly caught the eye of Maurizio Sarri.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season, but Napoli have reportedly now approached Villarreal to find out more information.
Sarri has also been given a boost in their pursuit of Suarez, after his agent admitted Suarez was impressed by the strength of Napoli in the aftermath of their victory.
“After the match we dined together to celebrate, and he told me he was impressed by the strength of the Azzurri,” Suarez’s agent told Tuttosport.
“They really are an excellent team and Denis knows that at the San Paolo it’s going to be difficult to get a good result.”
Since the start of the season only Roberto Soldado (25) has created more chances in the league for Villarreal than Suarez (24).
