Tottenham close to agreement for Walker replacement

Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain are close to agreeing a fee for Serge Aurier, according to French daily L’Equipe.

The London club has been on the lookout for reinforcements all summer, and particularly at full-back following the sale of Kyle Walker, with Ivory Coast international Aurier emerging as a top target.

Should he sign for Spurs the 24-year-old would likely compete for a place on the right with Kieran Trippier, with his pace and power also making him a more than capable alternative as a wing-back.

With Davinson Sanchez also set to join last season’s runners up in the Premier League, a move to a back three on a more permanent basis seems likely, and Aurier has certainly been identified with his ability on the attack in mind.

A fee in the region of €25m is believed to have been reached and the player is keen on the move, with legal proceedings holding up a transfer at present.

The defender is currently appealing a conviction for assaulting a police officer and at this time is not permitted to enter the UK as a result, a fact that prevented the PSG man from facing Arsenal last October.

If the issue is resolved, Tottenham will hope Aurier can maintain his impressive record from Ligue 1 having registered 19 assists in his last five seasons in France’s top tier.
