Chelsea forward emerges as Dortmund target to replace Sancho
Borussia Dortmund want to keep Jadon Sancho but have earmarked his England team-mate Callum Hudson-Odoi as their ideal replacement for the Manchester United target, claims The Daily Mirror.
United have accelerated their interest in Sancho in the last month and are growing increasingly confident of signing the 18-year-old in a deal worth in excess of £80m at the end of the season.
Sancho has been a revelation for Dortmund this season and has quickly established himself as one of the best players in Germany despite his tender age.
Dortmund would ideally like to hold on to Sancho for at least one more season but United are determined to land the former Manchester City graduate now.
The Bundesliga outfit are now weighing up their options and have earmarked Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi as their ideal replacement for Sancho.
Both players are currently on international duty with England and Hudson-Odoi has already been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich had several bids for Hudson-Odoi turned down by Chelsea in January and were even willing to make him one of the most expensive players in the club's history.
The 18-year-old, who is yet to even start a Premier League game, will have 12 months left to run on his current Chelsea deal at the end of the season and looks destined to leave his boyhood club.
Maurizio Sarri has made no attempt to convince Hudson-Odoi his long-term future is at Chelsea but the club are at least boosted by Dortmund challenging Bayern for his signature.
Despite the fact half of his appearances in the Europa League this season have come from the bench, Hudson-Odoi is remarkably the highest WhoScored rated player in the competition (7.84).
The Chelsea teen has played a direct hand in six goals in eight appearances in the Europa League (four goals, two assists) and is completing the most dribbles per game (3.8).
