France head coach admits he is watching Premier League star
Leicester City star midfielder N’Golo Kante has received a boost in his attempts to represent France at the Euro’s this summer after head coach Didier Deschamps revealed he is watching the dynamic midfielder.
Kante, 24, has been on the signings of the season and his performances at the heart of Leicester’s midfield have been integral behind the Foxes formidable campaign that has them two points clear with 12 games to go.
The energetic midfielder was only playing in the sixth tier of the French division three years ago and a call-up ahead of the Euro’s really would complete what a fairytale story it has been for the Leicester man.
“We’re following him,” Deschamps told French TV programme Canal Football Club, via the Leicester Mercury. “At Caen he was putting in some good performances. Leicester are having a surprising season and he’s performing very well.
“There are experienced players [in the France squad] and it’s up to them to continue to perform well.
“If at some point I think that there is a player who can bring something more compared to another who’s already there, I’ll select him.”
No player has completed more tackles and interceptions across Europe’s top five leagues this season than Kante (217).
