Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has earmarked the signing of Guingamp youngster Marcus Coco as a potential summer transfer target if they secure promotion to the Premier League, reports The Sun.
Coco, 20, has impressed during his second full season for Ligue 1 side Guingamp this season and his performances have not gone unnoticed across The Channel.
The France Under-21 international is also on Southampton’s radar, with manager Claude Puel thought have held an interest since his coaching days as Nice manager last season.
However, they could face strong opposition from Newcastle, who will be one of the busiest teams in the transfer market if they can secure promotion to the Premier League.
Coco, who can play in a huge variety of positions in midfield and attack, has scored four goals and registered two assists in 28 league appearances for a Guingamp side that have all but secured mid-table status this season.
