Juventus ace suffers thigh strain

Juventus have announced Miralem Pjanic suffered a thigh strain prior to their 2-0 win over Olympiacos on Wednesday evening.

Pjanic was due to start against the Greek giants in Wednesday’s Champions League clash but was replaced in the line-up by Rodrigo Bentancur after suffering a muscle injury during the warm up.

The 27-year-old has been in sublime form for Juventus so far this season, but his absence did not come at any cost against Olympiacos after Max Allegri’s side ran out 2-0 winners.

However, Pjanic is now unlikely to feature in Juventus' final game away to Atalanta before the international break after the Old Lady announced they would continue to monitor his injury in the coming days.

“Miralem Pjanic underwent medical checks this morning that revealed a strain of the quadriceps muscle in his right thigh, sustained during the warm-up session just before kick-off of yesterday’s Champions League match against Olympiacos,” a statement reads on the club’s official website.

“Initial examinations suggest it is a Grade 1-2 strain, but the midfielder will undergo further checks in order to set a clearer timescale for his return to action.”
