Leicester confident of fending off Liverpool interest in Tielemans

Leicester are confident Youri Tielemans will pledge his long-term future to the club amid interest from Liverpool, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Tielemans emerged as a top transfer target for Liverpool this summer following Gini Wijnaldum's departure.

The Belgium international cleaned up at Leicester's end of season's award ceremony, voted the best player at the club by both fans and players.

Tielemans has entered the final two years of his existing Leicester deal but Brendan Rodgers' side have no interest in cashing in.

Liverpool's interest has waned in recent weeks after being warned by Leicester it would take an astronomical fee to prise Tielemans away.

The Foxes are also confident Tielemans will put any doubt to bed by committing his long-term future to the club with a bumper new contract.

The 24-year-old finished last season with 10 goal involvements in a single league campaign for the first time in his career (6 goals, 4 assists).
